Given the exponential Internet of Things (IoT) devices growth and its vital importance for electricity to gain a secure infrastructure within the energy industry, current centralized solutions expose vulnerabilities. These come through the lack of security, real-time data processing, and privacy integration processes that the IoT devices need to impact the energy industry’s infrastructure positively.

Internet of Everything Corp is well aware of these weaknesses centralized solutions are exposing. IoE Corp believes that the Internet of Everything (IoE) is the logical step to follow. Using IoE as the upper layer in which IoT devices can be deployed, centralized solutions must be abandoned and focus on well-designed edge computing platforms that work onsite.

Gaining static data that doesn’t require transport to centralized points and back on-site ignites benefits—resulting in real-time data moving on the edge. It Gives the end-users the ability to act when needed and perform at a much more secure level because the data does not transfer from its place. Instead, it works under clustered decentralized architectures, giving data the necessary input to become information on which to actuate.

Another crucial aspect that a well-designed decentralized architecture provides is actuating on the United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). As we indicated initially, centralized solutions present vulnerabilities in privacy and security. Still, they also demonstrate that the business model is not calibrated toward achieving the UN’s SDGs.

As we are all aware, Cloud services are enormous server farms that need vast amounts of space and energy to continue growing. A pattern that is in some ways still a sustainable business, but with the exponential growth of IoT devices, the server centers required to be able to manage this deployment have a massive cost. This expense is monetary and sustainably inviable.

Some examples that can clarify the importance of moving into decentralized business models, that do not need central points, are:

· The integration and utilization of hardware offerings into current cloud environments has a five-year turnaround.
· Accessing power-points limits the locations where Cloud Centers and Server Farms can be built.
· Peering costs impact cloud services accessibility at different global locations.

These issues will have to be addressed by centralized solutions with very little space for maneuvering, and with decentralized solutions, they are instantly fixed. The nature of decentralized networks ignites computing power throughout; thus, all the nodes connected provide the computing power to run the services. This deletes the geolocation problems and the immense hardware integration and utilization of centralized infrastructures, i.e., Cloud Centers and Server Farms.

A holistic approach to electricity infrastructure

By implementing a decentralized solution to electricity infrastructure, we can ensure a sustainable, reliable, and efficient energy supply. Through a holistic approach, to plan strategies that include energy, transport, cities, human capital, and new technologies. As such, the production and consumption of electricity can “communicate” with each other; this is fundamental concerning the great uncertainty of weather effects and the behavior of prosumers.

Due to the introduction of electric mobility, smart homes, etc., it is essential to calibrate production on consumption and vice versa, to obtain a dynamic and reliable electrical system with integrated systems that interconnect energy, buildings, industry, EVs, and people. With a decentralized IoE, it is possible to provide innovative energy distribution models that consider the structural part. But also the dynamics of life, which must be integrated holistically for the design of the new Smart Grids as Neural Grids.

Today’s infrastructure should be ‘smart’ and connect regions through transportation, energy, communications, education, and economic assets. To achieve this level of intercommunication within infrastructure and update it to a 21st-century infrastructure that will enable economic growth and prosperity, public and private stakeholders must work together to take several identified steps:

· Exploit structural advantages to achieve a responsive supply chain, operating at lower cost with less congestion by taking advantage of lower-cost “home-shoring” subregions supporting dominant industries.
· Connect regional networks and industry clusters to leverage their inherent economies with the appropriate infrastructure technology and management.
· Develop workforce skills that can bring together business, education, and government interests.
· Finance strategic opportunities creatively, using innovative options to match affordability with productivity and speed to market.

It is vital to acknowledge the necessity to transform current digital solutions, to reach these steps within a secure and stable digital environment. First and foremost, it is paramount to understand that edge, and AI are the foundation of more intelligent business, and using the right technologies can help secure, accelerate, and cost-optimized infrastructure.

This type of solution needs to achieve trusted data in zero-trust environments. Infratech is moving into everything from Energy to Cities. Therefore, we have to start thinking about how to trust the data generated in these zero-trust environments; this is important when the data we are talking about is used to control critical systems. One of the significant game-changers is the use of blockchain-based consensus technology.

Actioning this blockchain innovative tech approach offers data transaction records that can identify bad data and bad “players” before doing any damage, and information refined from the data can be trusted at all levels. Finally, cost-efficiency is also reached because we strive away from cost inhibiting limitations such as cloud computing or device management, which can create risks with data and information is incomplete or even erroneous.

The IoE Eden system optimizes data to information refinement at a sustainable computing level, optimizing device power and minimizing unpredictable computing and bandwidth costs.

How does IoECorp.’s decentralized solution work?

Internet of Everything Corp.’s decentralized solution is the Eden System, a decentralized, autonomous, portable, secure, virtual infrastructure for managing clustered workloads over depos (decentralized pods) and services that facilitate declarative configuration and automation. An architecture that overcomes the three fundamental limiting factors that centralized Cloud Centers and Server farms face — Heat, Reach, and Power.

Eden System is based on a decentralized model permitting a scalable device clustering, where it is easy to add new devices as nodes. Making it possible for any device to contribute computing resources over an intelligent mesh network so that computing can happen where it is needed and close to where it will be used. Offering viable solutions in line with the UN’s SDGs and the coming massive IoT devices deployment.

IoECorp.’s Eden System developed quantum-safe tunnels using polymorphic encryption keys and a blockchain with consensus to verify the data moved between the nodes over the tunnels, thus creating trusted data walled gardens. The security and privacy vulnerabilities that centralized solutions are exposing, e.g., ransomware, are tackled.

Within this secure Eden, the orchestration of computing and storage is executed via service manifests that describe services rules, policies, and logic. An autonomous knowledge-based AI manages the underlying orchestration mechanics using network consensus over the blockchain as a deciding mechanism.

The Eden then achieves a cluster topography dynamically updated by the orchestration to fit the current workload. Eden System Service depos are generated and deployed similarly to container images. The depos are MPI cluster enabled from the start. All this translates into an Eden that gives to the infrastructure industry:

-> Agile service creation and deployment.
-> Continuous development, integration, and deployment.
-> Dev and Ops separation of concerns.
-> Holistic observability.
-> Environmental consistency across development, testing, and production.
-> Cloud and OS distribution portability.
-> Service-centric management.
-> Loosely coupled, distributed, elastic, liberated micro-services.
-> Resource isolation.
-> Resource utilization.

IoE Corp’s smart sustainable infrastructure

IoE Corp’s decentralization gives electricity a secure infrastructure and infrastructure as a whole. From public and private physical structures such as roads, railways, bridges, tunnels, water supply, sewers, etc., all can benefit from implementing our decentralized IoE Eden. Creating an innovative and sustainable infrastructure through sustainable AI computing and data to information refinement.

To understand this approach, let’s dig into how computing performs. There are two methods to run code that can be translated into machine code. These methods are interpreted and compiled, and one of the keys to selecting one or the other is the amount of energy waste they produce. Looking at interpreted code, it is a virtual machine that creates the machine code on the fly. This virtual step needs more CPU loops to execute the same task as compiled code; Python and JavaScript are two examples of interpreting code.

On the other hand, compiled code uses a compiler that produces a machine code binary. Then, the binary is run directly on the hardware through the OS. Therefore, using compiled code rather than interpreted code is a much better way to action sustainable computing. The other important factor to consider when it comes to sustainable computing is the use of AI because AI and Computing can, if not adequately planned, be extremely heavy and wasteful of CPU resources.

The logical thing to think about is how to reduce the energy consumption of AI and computing; as stated above, compiled code is a better solution for sustainable computing. As for data processing via AI, current solutions have a constant flow of data, which makes it extremely energy-consuming, without a real necessity. A situation that is even more true when it comes to IoT devices deployment.

In IoT, for smart cities, for example, the data generated that needs to be refined into information is not constant; it instead enters in bulks. This can be exemplified with traffic management, where an intersection is at most times empty but has short periods of intense rushes; as such, constantly using full computing for AI processing is automatically being wasteful.

IoE Eden is designed for data to information refinement; instead of having a constant flux of data sent to cloud providers, it refines the data onsite. This results in lower bandwidth usage and eliminates the energy consumption of computing and AI data processing only when required. In this sense, we achieve sustainable computing and cost-effectiveness, offering infrastructure a platform ready for today and future needs.

We have to remember that IoT devices deployed in the infrastructure industry will generate vast amounts of data, and this data, if performed within centralized solutions, will compete with other data. Resulting in the bandwidth mentioned above restrictions and the costly computing AI processing that will be, in most cases, unnecessary. The deployment of the decentralized IoE Eden System is the best solution for the private and public infrastructure industry, accelerating the race to reach the UN’s SDGs.

It will also, as presented above, offer a secure, scalable, efficient, flexible, human-first approach, knowledge-based AI, and working on edge platform. A decentralized network uses the computing power available onsite to keep the data to information refinement at a local level. Thus, professionals, machines, or devices can access the information on a real-time basis, which in the infrastructure industry is paramount.
